Building Community Through Connection, Consistency & Beach Volleyball

BELMONT BALLERS
COMMUNITY-DRIVEN BEACH VOLLEYBALL
IN LONG BEACH, CA

BUILT THROUGH CONNECTION, MOVEMENT & SOCIAL COMMUNITY.

THE BEGINNING
Belmont Ballers was co-created by Taylor and I as a way to bring people together through beach volleyball, community, and consistency in Long Beach. What started as a small group of friends from the Long Beach Run Club community quickly evolved into something much bigger rooted in connection, movement, and inclusive recreational events.

One night at a friend’s party, Taylor, Shekar, and I talked about how Belmont Ballers could become a real community. At the time, it was often difficult maintaining consistent turnout beyond our close group of friends, but we saw the potential to create something intentional and welcoming for people of all skill levels.

MY ROLE
As co-captain and social media/community lead, I helped grow Belmont Ballers through organic social media marketing, content creation, event coordination, and community engagement. Taylor brought the energy and front-facing leadership that helped create the welcoming atmosphere people were drawn to, while Shekar remained a supportive friend throughout the growth process.

COMMUNITY GROWTH
Within three months, what began as around 12 friends casually playing volleyball grew into a recurring Long Beach community with over 50 people attending weekly.

Today, Belmont Ballers continues to create a social-first environment centered around connection, recreational volleyball, and bringing people together every Wednesday at 6PM.
